  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HLTAID009

    This cardiopulmonary resuscitation course provides the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. CPR skills should be updated annually and recommended to all the workers needed to provide CPR in various situations, including community and workplace settings.


    The CPR course provides appropriate staff training for those requiring CPR training as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. The comprehensive course training comprises practical training plus face-to-face training.

    The HLTAID009 Provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation – a refresher course that provides appropriate training for persons or staff requiring CPR training as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. The comprehensive course training comprises practical training plus face-to-face training.


    There must be evidence that the candidate has completed the following tasks in line with State/Territory regulations, first aid codes of practice, first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies and workplace or site procedures:


    Followed DRSABCD in line with ARC guidelines, including:


    • Manage the unconscious, breathing casualty, including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise.
    • Manage the unconscious, non-breathing adult, including:
    • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
    • Follow a single rescue procedure, including demonstrating a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compression.

  • Provide First Aid HLTAID011

    This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to provide first aid and basic life support until the arrival of medical assistance. This includes calling for help, the ability to respond to first aid situations, casualty assessment, decision making and basic life support functions, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This course covers adult and child conditions.

    Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HLTAID009 accreditation included in certification.


    Learning Objectives:


    The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace requires employers to ensure that their nominated first aiders attend training regularly to remain current. The Code of Practice recommends that refresher training in CPR should be undertaken annually from the date of issue and that First Aid qualifications should be renewed every three years to remain current.

  • First Aid in the Education and Childcare Setting HLTAID012

    Providing First Aid in an education and care setting is part of the fully accredited first aid training that gives you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond in an emergency. Providing First Aid in an education and care setting is relevant for all staff employed in the childcare and education sector, as well as parents and caregivers of children. It provides the necessary skills required to provide a first aid response to infants, children, and adults. This course includes First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training for students as required for compliance under the Education and Care Services National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulation (2011). The course comprises pre-course learning and practical training plus face-to-face training hours covering the following four units of competency.


    • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
    • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support.
    • HLTAID011 Provide first aid.
    • HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting.

    This is a Nationally Accredited course which is recognised in all States and Territories and combines both the Emergency management of Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification in one course. The accreditation lasts for 3 years. This eliminates the requirements for multiple courses to be run for the 2 certifications. Saving both time, and expense for your organisation.


    This course is designed to give you all the confidence, knowledge and skills to manage and provide first aid treatment of asthma and anaphylaxis or severe allergic reactions including the use of the asthma inhaler and the adrenaline auto-injector (eg. Epipen/Anapen)


    Course Content:

    The Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace training course recognises that it is becoming increasingly important for employers to become Asthma emergency prepared. If someone is having difficulty breathing, this may be an asthma emergency.


    “1 in 10 Australians have asthma, across all ages. Any person with asthma can flare up asthma symptoms at any time.” Asthma Australia


    • Develop a risk minimisation and emergency management plan for an asthma episode.
    • Recognise the symptoms and potential dangers of an asthma episode.
    • Assess the emergency asthma situation, taking into consideration the casualty, risks, physical hazards, and appropriate response to control the situation.
    • Communicate effectively with the asthma casualty to reassure and advise.
    • Gather the essential resources and equipment to provide effective first aid to the asthma casualty.
    • Demonstrate effective first-aid management of an asthma episode.
    • Communicate and document the critical details of the emergency asthma incident and the casualty’s condition.
    • Follow workplace debriefing policies/procedures.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the responses to the emergency incident and identify possible improvements.

  • Anaphylaxis Management (22578VIC)

    The Anaphylaxis EpiPen training course called 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis provides participants with the knowledge and skills to assist a person suffering an anaphylactic reaction until medical assistance arrives. “Hospitalisations due to anaphylaxis have tripled over the past 13 years and have increased more than seven-fold among children aged 5 to 14”. Journal of Allergy and Immunology, July 2015


    It is becoming increasingly more important for both corporate business and the general public to become Anaphylaxis prepared. Anaphylaxis is the most severe form of an allergic reaction and is potentially life-threatening. It must be treated as a medical emergency, requiring immediate treatment and urgent medical attention. Obtain the necessary first aid skills to assess, manage and assist a person suffering an anaphylactic reaction until medical assistance arrives.

    The HLTAID010 provides a basic emergency life support course comprising practical and face-to-face training hours. Providing public and private training throughout Australia and New Zealand, Healthcorp’s professional industry trainers will teach you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond to or manage an emergency. Learn to assess and provide first aid support to the sick and injured or the confidence to supervise the management and information control of workplace work, health, and safety requirements.


    The HLTAID010 Provides basic emergency life support training and the necessary skills required to provide a first aid response, including life support, managing any casualties on the scene, and managing other first aiders. This course is recommended for those in charge of first aid in the workplace. The course comprises practical training plus face-to-face training hours.

    • Using personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Providing appropriate first-aid treatment
    • conveying incident details to emergency services or advising casualty on any required post-incident action
    • Providing an accurate verbal report of the incident
    • Reviewing the incident.

  • Provide First Aid in the Remote Setting HLTAID013

    This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid to a casualty(s) in a remote or isolated situation.


    Overview:


    This training is suitable for individuals, companies, and organisations. It will give participants the knowledge and skills to make them confident and competent to provide effective first-aid management to a casualty in their care for up to 72 hours. The course will overview the Advanced First Aid competencies and adapt them to the remote environment. There is also a practical component to put theory into practice. This is done by setting participants with wounds in scenarios and getting others to treat them.


    • Prerequisites: Students must be 16 years or older.
    • Nominal Duration: Normally runs over 3 days, but this is reduced to 2 days with an online pre-learning module completed before reviewing the background theory component. We then do an overview of the content, combining it with the practical components with scenario-based exercises to complete the course over the 2 days.
    • Criteria: Practical Assessment and Short Answer Quiz Nationally Recognised
    • Training: The course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the National Training Register.
    • Legislative Requirements: Legislative approval is valid for 3 years from completion. Annual refreshers are recommended.

    Notes: Training consists of practical exercises in sometimes difficult countries. As the conditions dictate, participants must wear appropriate clothing for the practical scenarios, including wet weather gear.

  • Provide Advanced First Aid HLTAID014

    Incorporates Provide First Aid components and expanding their knowledge base covering Oxygen Therapy, Common Sports related injuries, Manual handling injuries, Disturbed behavior, Emergency Child Birth, and Diving Injuries. This course can be adapted to incorporate Analgesia administration accreditation. It is 3 days duration, but can be shortened with the use of the flexible delivery mode (2 Days).

  • Provide Advanced Resuscitation HLTAID015

    Advanced resuscitation certification is a National Accredited course for the use of Oxygen in the First Aid pre-hospital setting. The participants will learning the safe use of Medical Oxygen. 

    Oxygen Therapy modes of delivery. Resuscitation on the non-breathing casualty using Oxygen therapy via Bag/Valve/Mask resuscitation. 

    Insertion of an oral airway and suctioning. 

    And oxygen therapy via a therapy mask for the breathing casualty.

    The accreditation is valid for 12 months.

  • Occupational First Aid Skillset HLTSS00068

    The HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set course provides a set of skills to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in a workplace environment, including the skills to provide an emergency first aid response in the event of an emergency.


    The HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set course comprises four (4) different First Aid courses – and meets industry requirements to perform the role and responsibilities required of an Occupational First Aider.


    The comprehensive course training comprises pre-course learning and practical training plus face-to-face training hours within the scope of learning each of the below courses.


    • HLTAID011 Provide first aid.

  • LVR (Low Voltage Rescue) UETDRRF007 and CPR HLTAID009

    UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation will provide you with the skills and knowledge to manage a casualty involved in performing a rescue from a live LV panel. In an emergency where the casualty requires CPR, you or your employees will have the life-saving skills to manage the situation until emergency services arrive.


    Healthcorp’s WorkCover recognised LVR training course, UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel and HLTAID009, Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and give you the knowledge, skills, and training to perform a rescue from a live LV panel. Students will undertake two units of competency – CPR and LVR. The unit UETDRRF004 performs recovery from a Live LV Panel, and HLTAID009 Provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation and covers rescue procedures from live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution, or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work. Upon completing the course, participants will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the nationally accredited course – HLTAID009 Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel.

    UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel


    • Prepare to perform rescue procedures from live LV panel.
    • Instruction in hazards and risk control measures for specific work functions and work areas are identified and obtained. (This will include the risk assessment and control measures taken by the individual performing the rescue).
    • Electricity isolation point is identified and labelled where appropriate. Tools and emergency equipment are checked for safety functionality and placed in an accessible location to facilitate response and rescue according to established procedures.

    Carry out rescue from live LV panel.


    • Workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk are followed.
    • Where necessary, workplace procedures for accessing and isolating the LV panel and removing the victim from contact with live apparatus are followed.
    • Workplace procedures for applying CPR at the site and gaining access to treatment by a medical professional, if necessary, are followed.
    • The work site is secured, and entry controlled until appropriate authorities inspect and release the site.

    Complete the LV panel rescue procedure.


    Processes for reporting accidents or incidents to authorised personnel are confirmed in accordance with established procedures.

  • Provide Pain Management PUAEME005

    The PUAEME005 Provide pain management course covers the skills and knowledge required to administer restricted analgesics to provide pain management as part of a medically supervised first responder organisation. It includes identifying the need for analgesia; accessing, preparing, and administering restricted pain relief such as analgesics and aspirin according to medically endorsed protocols; performing casualty handovers; and completing analgesic use requirements.


    This training applies to personnel from emergency services, volunteer organisations or organisations that provide a medically supervised first aid service. Licensing requirements for the storage and administration of drugs may apply.


    • Accessing and preparing appropriate dosage of analgesic, including checking for contraindications and precautions before administering and identifying appropriate use of the analgesic drug for the casualty
    • Applying Work, Health and Safety (WHS)/Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
    • Communicating with casualty to provide comfort and instruction about the analgesic drug
    • Completing written logs and documentation
    • Complying with legislation and industry standards
    • Following medically endorsed protocols.
    • Identifying situations for the use of analgesic drugs during first aid
    • Monitoring casualty whilst the analgesic drug is administered, including assessing vital signs including level of consciousness, breathing rate, pulse rate, skin colour and temperature.

  • Mental Health Awareness MHA001

    This course is designed for the public to recognise the signs and approach and guide someone experiencing mental health issues to appropriate help. Like traditional first aid, this course does not train individuals to treat or diagnose mental or drug use disorders. Rather, it provides training for individuals on appropriate communication skills and how first to support and guide someone experiencing mental health concerns and to seek professional assistance.


    After working through this course, participants should be able to describe and demonstrate:

    Recognise the burden of mental ill health in Australia.

    Recognise the signs, symptoms, and circumstances of those struggling with their mental health.

    Use effective communication skills to assist someone struggling with their mental health.

    Provide appropriate external and internal resources to assist those with Mental Health difficulties.

    Establish and maintain personal boundaries while helping.
